“We wanted a home where we could actually be together. Seeing our kids in the kitchen while we cook, celebrating birthdays, and sharing everyday moments has made such a difference.”
This project was shaped by a season of transition. Before welcoming her third child, this homeowner wanted a first floor that supported connection, visibility, and togetherness. The existing layout made everyday moments feel segmented, exactly the opposite of how she wanted her growing family to live.
By removing a dividing wall, we created an open living environment that allows the kitchen to function as the heart of the home. Sightlines were improved so cooking, playing, and gathering could happen simultaneously, without feeling disconnected. While the space opened up, flooring throughout the first floor was replaced to create visual continuity and a sense of cohesion from room to room.
The result is a home that feels lighter, more functional, and deeply aligned with family life. Once designed not just for efficiency, but for memories in the making.
